Good news! We are going to have the 4th meeting this month! An interactive and educational workshop is waiting for you. We are honoured to have CTM Oh Hock Chong to share with us hints and tips on Effective and Engaging Evaluation. Toastmasters is more than just learning to be a good communicator. To complete this cycle of learning, one must also guide, lead, and impart your knowledge to other members – one such way is through evaluation. We should not stop at giving good prepared speeches, we should also be able to give constructive and great evaluations.
Here are the details of workshop:
Date: 28th November 2016 (4th Monday)
Time: 19:00 – 22:00
Venue: Sheraton Towers Hotel
IMPORTANT NOTE: FREE ENTRY for members ; Guest fee $20
Learning Objectives:
▪ learning a variety of structures for giving evaluations
▪ exploring specific ways to offer strengths & improvements for speakers.
Skills you can gain from evaluation:
1. Active listening – In evaluation, you need to listen actively to pick up what the speaker is actually saying and how he/she is saying it.
2. Observation – learn to observe attentively to see if speakers’ movements, gestures etc. corresponds to the speech.
3. Analytical and critical thinking – to see if speakers develop speeches according to the project objectives, as well as flow and coherence of speech content
4. Logical and structured thinker – evaluators need to organize their thoughts quickly as they prepare their notes to present.
5. Constructive feedback – One of the most important elements of leadership is learning how to provide constructive feedback. In life, you will face situations where you have to give feedback to your colleagues, friends, or children, so why not learn now?
Sound Awesome to you? Do come and learn together. Mark your date (28th November 2016), see you there.
