Some food for thoughts….

This quote strikes me after I ‘d watched the latest Batman movie “The Dark Knight”…. No matter how powerful, rich & successful you can be, you still need good and trustworthy friends around you. Real friends that encourage you when the chips are down, advise when you need a 2nd opinion and point the way when you felt lost….

I guess that this is what makes Toastmasters so special and meaningful to me. It is where you can cast aside your doubts and worries. So long as you put in sincere efforts to contribute to your Toastmasters Club (be it doing a project speech, evaluating a fellow Toastmasters’ speech, taking up an appointment during a chapter meeting or even take up an EXCO role), you need not fear failure and embarassment. You can count on your fellow Toastmasters along your life-long journey.

As the saying goes “Life’s a journey. Enjoy the trip!”

Hi everyone,

Here’s some food for thought today. As you might already know Colin Powell’s possibily one of the most famous American in recent history and a well-regarded leader in his own right. In Toastmasters, we aim to help our members to attain personal growth via effective communications (speaking & listening) and developing the leadership potential of each and ever member to the fullest potential possible.

1. It ain’t as bad as you think. It will look better in the morning.

2. Get mad, then get over it.

3. Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it.

4. It can be done!

5. Be careful what you choose. You may get it.

6. Don’t let adverse facts stand in the way of a good decision.

7. You can’t make someone else’s choices. You shouldn’t let someone else make yours.

8. Check small things.

9. Share credit.

10. Remain calm. Be kind.

11. Have a vision. Be demanding.

12. Don’t take counsel of your fears or naysayers

13. Perpetual optimism is a force multipler.
